Andy Owens

Date of birth: 15 October 1989

Height: 191cm

Weight: 85kg

Position: Centre Half or Left Back

Former club: Stoke City / Liverpool FC

Favourite player and why: I have two. Steven Gerrard, he’s the best all-round player in attack and defence, plus I’m a Liverpool fan. Thierry Henry simply because of the stylish way he plays, simply superb.

Sporting ambition: To play in the professional game at first team level, to play at the highest possible level and to win as many honours and trophies as possible.

Career highlight to date: Bring a part of the first intake of players in the Glenn Hoddle Academy.

What’s the best thing about the GHA: It has to be the professional routine day in, day out.  It is designed to get the best out of you, and it works!

What have you learnt from Glenn and the team: I now know my potential as a footballer and also check over my shoulder before receiving the ball, the two second rule, even though the team may have the ball, we’re still defending!
