First Glenn Hoddle Academy Player is Back in the Game
Glenn Hoddle Academy striker Chris Fagan has become the first of Glenn’s players to sign a permanent deal with an English professional club following today’s announcement that he has signed for Lincoln City.
Fagan, 20, a talented striker and Under 21 International for Ireland, was released last year from Manchester United, and joined the Glenn Hoddle Academy in the summer having impressed at the Academy’s initial trials.
He joined a squad of 25 players at the Academy in Spain, all released from senior clubs and all hoping for a return to the professional game.
Chris is delighted to have signed a deal with Lincoln City, which sees him return to the game as the first of Glenn Hoddle’s graduates, following his time developing his skills with Glenn and the coaching team in Spain.

Chris Fagan said: “I am delighted to have signed for Lincoln, and to be the first of Glenn’s players to have been signed. This simply would not have been possible without my time with Glenn down in Spain.
“My goal has always been to get back in to the game using my time with Glenn as a stepping stone and I am excited at the prospect of now playing regular first team football for Lincoln and I know I will score goals for them.
“The work with Glenn Hoddle and the coaching team in Spain has really made a huge difference to me, I am stronger now and I know I have developed technically under their guidance and have been lucky enough to score a few goals in matches we played both in England and Spain”.
Glenn Hoddle said: “This is a great day. I am really pleased that Chris has signed for Lincoln, he is our very first player to sign a permanent deal.
“At the same time this is also a great day for the Academy. I have long held the belief that players are released from the game too early. Today has proved that the concept of giving players time to develop in the right surroundings can and does work. We have changed not only Chris’s football career but I’m sure changed his life both for the better and that is what this concept is all about.”
The Glenn Hoddle Academy uniquely sources talented young footballers from around the world and provides them with the highest quality specialist football coaching in southern Spain.
