Glenn Hoddle Academy Club Joins International Tournament

The Glenn Hoddle Academy Club will be competing in a new international football tournament this weekend in the Spanish resort of Estepona. The ‘International Summer League’ is designed to showcase exceptional talent for visiting scouts and clubs as they begin to build their teams for the forthcoming season.

Joining teams made up of players from Spain are international players from a number of countries, all looking to impress the visiting scouts and looking for the opportunity to play in Europe’s top-flight leagues.

The tournament will be played on the pitch at Union Deportiva Estepona between July 2 and July 5. The Glenn Hoddle Academy Club will play matches on 3rd and 4th July before the final and third and fourth place play-offs take place on July 5, 2009.

Players will also be looking to impress Glenn and his coaching team, keen for a place at the Glenn Hoddle Academy Club, which can provide them with further development as well as the opportunity to impress scouts that regularly watch Glenn’s squad. This is in addition to the regular matches played by the squad against both Spanish and English opposition.

Glenn Hoddle said: “This new tournament is designed to showcase footballing talent from around the world, giving the players an opportunity to impress visiting scouts. This is a perfect opportunity for our players, all of whom are looking to get back into professional football, whether in Spain, England or at clubs from around the world.

“We regularly have scouts visiting us in Spain and when we play matches in England, and this tournament offers a unique opportunity to have international scouts and clubs in one place.

“Our squad has been training hard in preparation in very warm temperatures and we have also made use of a local artificial pitch, to best prepare them for the conditions in Estepona.

“All of the players are looking to impress in the tournament and we hope to build on our already excellent relations with international coaches and scouts as we look to support clubs keen to develop their squads ahead of the forthcoming season.”

The Glenn Hoddle Academy uniquely sources talented young footballers from around the world and provides them with the highest quality specialist football coaching in southern Spain.
