Spanish Star Teams Up with the GHA

Spanish journeyman Iñigo Idiakez has teamed up with the Glenn Hoddle Academy to improve his fitness as he awaits his next club appointment.

Idiakez, who played in England for Derby County, Southampton and Queens Park Rangers, following a long career in the Spanish leagues, is now based back in Southern Spain.

An accomplished player, Idiakez is in full-time training with the Glenn Hoddle Academy squad, passing on some of his experience to the young players aspiring for a career in the top-flight of the game.

Acknowledged as a dead ball specialist, he has been putting the Academy players through their paces as well as joining them in their regular friendly matches.

Iñigo Idiakez said: “I am delighted to be joining the squad at the Glenn Hoddle Academy, the players and staff have made me very welcome. I hope that the excellent training here will boost my fitness ahead of my next club.

“The team here really are excellent they have a very good attitude and superb ability and I am confident that some of these players will be picked up by clubs very soon. It’s a superb idea giving a second chance to released players and with top coaches and a great boss to learn from they will be successful.

“I have been on the sidelines for a while due to a small achillies problem and now I want to get my fitness back and play at the same level as before. I have been training with Real Sociedad and AFC Bournemouth until Glenn invited me to come over to his Academy, a great opportunity”.

Glenn Hoddle said: “Iñigo has joined us for a week to sharpen up his fitness and his arrival has certainly caused a buzz around the players. Having a current player with so much experience is very good for the GHA squad and I am sure we will help hone his skills and certainly his fitness further.”

The Glenn Hoddle Academy sources talented young footballers from around the world and provides them with the highest quality specialist football coaching at the superb Montecastillo Resort in southern Spain.
